Introduction

Iguality is a young but ambitious non profit organisation that offers free mental health care to marginalised communities such as refugees, migrants, LGBTQ individuals and others at risk of social exclusion. We take great pride in having supported over 50 individuals through more than 800 hours of psychosocial support sessions since August 2022, made possible by an amazing network of volunteer therapists.

Yet, we’re aiming to grow. At the moment we are 100% volunteer-run, but we have secured a budget to hire a part time Fundraising Officer, to start with a three-month freelancing contract for 10 hours per week but with the aim to extend to 6 months, and if possible, work towards a long-term working relationship depending on the fundraising outcomes. First and utmost we’re looking for a passionate individual that despite the part time dedication will care about their work with us and feel connected to our cause.

A quick summary of the practicalities:

🏠 Remote position (but ideally based in Catalonia)
👩‍💻 Freelance position (monthly invoicing to our Spanish entity)
📅 3 months, extendable to 6 (to begin with)
🕒 10 hours / week (100% flexible working hours)
🗣️ English, but Spanish and/or Catalan a strong plus
💰 Hourly compensation of €24 (€960 on your monthly invoice)

Responsibilities

Our  Interim Fundraising officer will:

  • Research and list potential fundraising opportunities for our organisation
  • Lead the design and writing of a wide range of grant applications
  • Join bi-weekly team meetings to get input from our team members
  • Delegate small tasks (like translations) to our volunteers
  • Meet remotely with our director on a weekly basis for reporting purposes (30-60m)
  • Join our events and support where possible (2-3x each quarter)
  • Be integrated in our team and – within the contract limits – support our overall work

Requirements

First things first: you need to be a registered freelancer, or are willing to become one (and are able to do so). We don’t have the budget/resources right now to hire you as an employee.

Furthermore, a candidate must:

  • Speak and write fluent English
  • Have at least 3 years of fundraising experience
  • Be able to work in a fast-moving environment and have a flexible mindset
  • Have knowledge of and experience with the local (Catalan), Spanish and EU fundraising context
  • Know how to design and write projects and has a creative attitude
  • Is able to create project budgets
  • Is able to work with Excel/Google Sheets and comparable project design tools
  • Be able to work professionally with our partners to coordinate shared grant writing
  • Have a proactive attitude and the ability to work independently
  • Have a strong affinity with mental health care, the social sector and/or psychology

And the ideal candidate:

  • Speaks Spanish and/or Catalan as well
  • Is based in Barcelona or close to the city
  • Knows how to work with Airtable and Trello (or comparable tools)
  • Has knowledge of CSR and private fundraising

Perks and benefits

Anyone working at Iguality can:

  • Have a lot of flexibility in working schedules and working locations
  • Enjoy a diverse, motivated and young team within a brand-new, modern and innovative nonprofit organisation
  • Participate in our events and activities or those of our partners like UNHCR and ACATHI
  • Learn how to work with technical tools such as Canva, Trello, Airtable and more
  • Learn about psychology and mental health through training and knowledge exchange
