Iguality Volunteering
How does it work?
The pairing
Once we find a good match for you, we’ll connect you with your Buddy and share each other’s contact details so you can take it from there. The match is made carefully by our coordination team, taking into account languages, interests, availability, and other relevant factors.
The sessions
You and your Buddy decide together when, where, and what to do – at least once a month, up to once a week. Sessions can be in person or online, as short or long as feels natural. After each session, we ask you to fill in a short log so we can follow your progress and support you where needed.
Requirements
The ideal volunteer profile
No professional background required – this role is open to anyone with time, openness, and a genuine interest in people.
Students, expats, coaches, retirees, professionals – we welcome volunteers from all walks of life.
Proficiency in English and/or Spanish is necessary. Additional languages are always a plus, especially Arabic, French, Portuguese, Urdu, or Bengali.
Commitment to a minimum of 5 sessions over a period of up to 6 months, meeting at least once a month.
People with good personal conduct and no history of criminal or harmful behaviour.
Based in Barcelona for in-person meetups, though online companionship may be possible depending on the match.
Ideally has been at least 6 to 12 months in Barcelona to be able to understand the local context.
