Next weekend, Iguality will host the Vuelta de Iguality, a special event where up to 50 people will cycle or run through the beautiful Montseny area to raise awareness about mental health. The event, taking place on Saturday, September 27, is designed to foster a sense of community and collect donations to support our free mental health care initiatives in Barcelona and Catalonia. Participants will have the chance to connect with nature while supporting a cause that aims to make mental health care accessible to those at risk of social exclusion.

This year’s Vuelta de Iguality brings together people from more than 18 different nationalities, along with over 10 dedicated volunteers. Such diversity reflects our commitment to ensuring that mental health support is available to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance. By coming together in this way, we hope to show that mental health is a universal concern and that everyone deserves access to care and support.

A unique aspect of the event is that some participants and volunteers will stay for the entire weekend, sharing meals, joining additional activities, and spending time together. These moments are about more than just sport—they are about building stronger connections and breaking down the stigma that still surrounds mental health. Research shows that community-based activities and social support can play a significant role in improving mental well-being and reducing feelings of isolation (World Health Organization, 2022).

We are grateful for the support from Parc Natural del Montseny, Ajuntament de Gualba, and Ajuntament de Sant Hilari Sacalm, who are helping us make this event possible at the local level. TREK BARCELONA SUD has also contributed by offering discounted bike rentals to participants.

Donations are still open, and we aim to raise over 5000 EUR to help more than 500 people access health care and community activities in 2026. Every contribution helps us continue our work to make mental health care more accessible in Barcelona and Catalonia. Click here to make a donation.
