Core Principle: Value & Levels
Compensation at Iguality is structured around Levels that reflect the scope, responsibility, and experience required for each role. While we strive for fairness and transparency, rates vary based on the assigned Level and Role. Our goal is to offer competitive compensation that balances fair pay for your expertise with the flexibility of our collaboration.
Independent Contractor Status
To maintain a compliant and genuine freelance relationship, all collaborators at Iguality operate as independent businesses. This means:
- Flexible Schedule: You determine your own working hours and organization. There is no fixed schedule or requirement to be online at specific times.
- Own Equipment: You generally provide your own hardware and workspace. However, if you require specific tools or resources to complete your work, please discuss this with us; we may be able to provide or fund necessary equipment on a case-by-case basis.
- Client Freedom: You are free to work with other clients simultaneously. While Iguality may be your primary partner, maintaining a diverse client portfolio is encouraged and supported.
The Progressive Band System (Volume Pricing)
Iguality offers a tiered pricing structure where higher volume commitments unlock operational efficiencies, reflected in a blended rate structure. This is a standard commercial practice similar to volume discounts in B2B service agreements.

The system is progressive. Higher bands apply only to the hours within that specific range, never reducing the pay earned in lower bands. Crossing into a higher band always increases your total pay.
- Band 1 (0–15 hours/week): 100% of your base rate applies to all hours in this range.
- Band 2 (16–25 hours/week):
- Hours 1–15 are paid at 100%.
- Hours 16–25 are paid at 55% of your base rate.
- Band 3 (26–35 hours/week):
- Hours 1–15 at 100%.
- Hours 16–25 at 55%.
- Hours 26–35 at 21% of your base rate.

Mid-Level Officer Role Imagine a Mid-Level Officer with a base rate of €25/hour:
- If working 15 hours/week: All hours are paid at 100%.
- Total: 15h × €25 = €375.
- If working 25 hours/week: The first 15 hours are at 100%, the next 10 hours are at 55% (€13.75).
- Total: (15h × €25) + (10h × €13.75) = €375 + €137.50 = €512.50.
- If working 35 hours/week: The first 15h are at 100%, the next 10h at 55%, and the final 10h at 21% (€5.25).
- Total: €375 + €137.50 + (10h × €5.25) = €565.
Key Limits:
- Maximum Volume: The maximum contracted volume for a freelancer is capped at 35 hours per week to ensure compliance with independent contractor guidelines.
- Monthly Calculation: Monthly invoices are based on an average of 4.33 weeks per month.
Special Provision: TRADE Contracts (Spain)
For freelancers based in Spain whose volume of work with Iguality naturally results in deriving at least 75% of their income from us, we may propose a TRADE contract (Trabajador Autónomo Económicamente Dependiente).
- What is it? A specific legal status for self-employed professionals with significant economic dependence on a single client.
- Why consider it? This status offers enhanced legal protections, including regulated termination notice periods and dispute resolution mechanisms, while maintaining your status as an independent contractor.
- Process: If eligible, we will discuss this option with you to ensure it aligns with your tax situation and professional goals.
Adjustments: Overage Fees & Ad-Hoc Work
If your actual deliverables exceed your committed monthly baseline, adjustments are calculated as follows:
Overage Fees (Additional Deliverables)
If you complete additional work beyond your agreed weekly commitment within the same month:
- We calculate the pro-rated hourly equivalent of your monthly retainer: Monthly Invoice ÷ (Weekly Hours × 4.33).
- Additional deliverables are billed at this equivalent rate.
- Παράδειγμα: A freelancer with a monthly invoice of €930 for 10h/week has a pro-rated equivalent of ~€21.48. Five additional hours of deliverables are billed at €21.48 each.
Separate/Ad-Hoc Assignments
If you submit work independently (e.g., covering a gap or a one-off task) without a base monthly contract:
- These hours are treated as a standalone week of service.
- The Progressive Band System applies immediately based on the total number of hours submitted in that instance.
- Παράδειγμα: Submitting 25 standalone hours triggers Band 2 calculations (first 15h at 100%, next 10h at 55%).
Review & Updates
This policy is subject to periodic review to ensure it remains fair, competitive, and aligned with Iguality’s growth. Any changes to compensation structures, bands, or Levels will be communicated transparently and discussed with affected team members well in advance.
