Iguality and Safeguarding

Iguality believes that everyone we come into contact with — including staff, volunteers, NGO partners, donors, vendors, and suppliers — has the right to be protected from all forms of harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, regardless of age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or ethnic origin.

We are committed to addressing safeguarding, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and all forms of harassment, bullying, or abuse through the four pillars of awareness, prevention, reporting, and response.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to abuse and exploitation by any team member. Our policies apply equally to the Board of Trustees, employees, volunteers, and all associated personnel, and are valid at all times and in all locations.

Purpose of the Safeguarding Policy

This policy provides a clear framework to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone involved with Iguality. Its main purpose is to minimize the risk of harm, outline procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns, and explain Iguality’s response system when issues arise.
While this policy aims to be comprehensive, there may be circumstances not explicitly covered. In such cases, the Safeguarding Coordination Team will assess and respond based on the principles outlined here.

Any violations of this policy are considered severe and will lead to disciplinary action, in accordance with the section on “Consequences of non-compliant behaviour” in our Code of Conduct.

Communication of the Policy

Everyone active at Iguality is made aware of this policy during onboarding, where it is explained in detail alongside our Code of Conduct.

External individuals participating in Iguality’s activities are also informed of our safeguarding standards and expectations.
