When to report something

When to Report a Safeguarding Concern

Always report any situation that made you — or someone else — feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or affected mentally or physically. This includes concerns involving you directly, something you observed, or something someone told you.

Some examples of when to report:

  • You felt unsafe, threatened, or experienced inappropriate behaviour.
  • You observed others being treated inappropriately.
  • You witnessed dangerous, aggressive, or unethical behaviour.
  • You heard about a concerning situation and are unsure how to proceed.
  • You previously reported something, but feel it was not handled properly.

Emergency situation?
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead or local emergency services right away.

Useful Tips when submitting a concern

When describing an issue, try to include:

  • Who was involved (names are okay — reports are treated confidentially).
  • Where and when it happened.
  • Your connection to the situation.
  • Why you believe the situation may be harmful or risky.
