Safeguarding and Anti-Discrimination Policies

At Iguality, we are committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all staff and volunteers. Our safeguarding and anti-discrimination framework includes:

  • Safeguarding Policies: We have established comprehensive safeguarding policies to protect all individuals from harm. This includes appointing a dedicated Gender Safeguarding Lead responsible for overseeing and ensuring adherence to these policies.
  • Code of Conduct: Our Code of Conduct sets out clear expectations for behaviour and interactions within the organisation. It prohibits all forms of discrimination and harmful behaviour based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. The Code of Conduct is integral to our commitment to creating a respectful and equitable workplace.
  • Regular Policy Reviews: Our safeguarding policies and Code of Conduct are reviewed annually or as needed to reflect changes in regulations, best practices, and feedback from staff and volunteers. Updates are communicated effectively to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness.
  • Confidential Reporting Mechanisms: We provide confidential and accessible channels for reporting concerns related to safeguarding or breaches of the Code of Conduct. All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly, with measures in place to protect the confidentiality of those involved.
  • Support and Resources: We offer support services, including counselling and mediation, to individuals who have experienced harm or breaches of the Code of Conduct, helping them to recover and reintegrate into the workplace.

Prevention of Harm

To prevent harm and maintain a respectful and safe working environment, we implement the following measures:

  • Comprehensive Safeguarding Framework: Our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct explicitly prohibit all forms of harm, including sexual harm, discrimination, and harassment. The framework includes clear procedures for reporting and addressing such issues.
  • Mandatory Training: All staff and volunteers are required to participate in training on safeguarding and harm prevention. This training covers recognising different forms of harm, understanding the implications, and responding effectively. The training is updated regularly to incorporate new insights and best practices.
  • Clear Reporting Procedures: We have established clear procedures for reporting concerns related to harm or breaches of the Code of Conduct. These procedures ensure that reports are handled with sensitivity and urgency, maintaining confidentiality throughout the investigation process.
  • Zero-Tolerance Policy: We maintain a zero-tolerance stance towards any behaviour that contravenes our Safeguarding Policy or Code of Conduct. Any incidents are addressed promptly, with appropriate disciplinary action taken as necessary.
  • Inclusive Workplace Culture: We promote a culture of respect and inclusivity through regular team-building activities, workshops on cultural competence, and open discussions about diversity and inclusion. This helps foster an environment where everyone feels valued and safe.
