Introduction to the Sexual Harassment Policy
Iguality believes that everyone we come into contact with, including our staff, our NGO partners, our donors, our vendors and suppliers, regardless of age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, religion or ethnic origin, has the right to be protected from all forms of harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. Therefore we strongly stand against gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment, and have implemented all possible measures to prevent those from happening within Iguality.
Why we have this policy
We are committed to addressing sexual harassment through these four pillars: awareness, prevention, reporting and response. Therefore we have a zero tolerance approach to sexual harassment of or by any team member. Our policies apply equally to the board of trustees, all employees, all volunteers and all associated personnel and apply at all times and in all locations.
Purpose of the policy
This policy aims to provide a clear framework to ensure a safe and secure environment for anyone active at Iguality. Its main purpose is to minimise the chances of any form of harm, while also describing the reporting methods for any potential sexual harassment concern. Last but not least, it also describes Iguality’s response systems in case of any sexual harassment issue.
While the Sexual Harassment Policy aims to be comprehensive, it is possible that there may be circumstances that are not covered or where there is a question about the application of the policy and procedures. In a situation like this, this policy also describes how our Safeguarding Committee (which is also held responsible for Sexual Harassment concerns) will handle the situation.
Any violations of this policy will be treated as a severe issue and will result in disciplinary action being taken, as described in the ‘Consequences of non-compliant behaviour’ in our Code of Conduct.
Communication of the policy
Anyone active in Iguality is made aware of this policy upon joining the organisation. During the onboarding process, the policy will be comprehensively explained, combined with our Iguality Handbook. Any external individual that joins Iguality's activities will also be made aware of our policies.
