Commissie Beveiliging
The Safeguarding Committee ensures that safeguarding concerns at Iguality are managed promptly, fairly, and in line with our safeguarding policy. It is composed of two defined roles: the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the Safeguarding Support Lead (SSL).
Aangewezen veiligheidsfunctionaris (DSL)
Role description:
The DSL is the organisational focal point for safeguarding. They lead on awareness, prevention, reporting, and response, ensuring Iguality maintains a strong safeguarding culture. The DSL can be more than one person sharing the role with another.

- Serve as the main point of contact for all safeguarding concerns
- Manage and report incidents and allegations
- Provide support and advice to staff and volunteers
- Refer and report to relevant authorities in cases of sexual exploitation, child abuse, or abuse of an at-risk adult
- Maintain safeguarding records and monitor implementation of this policy
- Deliver training and ensure all team members attend safeguarding onboarding
- Keep the Director and Board informed of safeguarding developments
Safeguarding Support Lead (SSL)
Role description:
The SSL supports the DSL in managing safeguarding concerns and ensures no issue is left without a first response. They act as a backup when the DSL is absent. There will always be a minimum of 2 SSLs.
Responsibilities:
- Be on stand-by to support the DSL with handling Safeguarding Concerns
- Ensure each concern receives a timely first response; if not, notify the full committee so another member can follow up
- Step in to cover safeguarding duties during DSL absence
- Support documentation, follow-up, and communication with therapists or beneficiaries
- Assist in safeguarding training and awareness efforts
