As a volunteer therapist at Iguality, you play a key role in providing safe, ethical, and compassionate support to individuals in need. To ensure a professional and effective environment, please follow these core responsibilities, organized under four key areas:
1. Professional Conduct and Boundaries
- Maintain Professionalism: Keep the relationship with users strictly professional. Any personal or romantic relationship outside the therapeutic context is prohibited.
- Set Clear Boundaries: Establish clear rules and limits with users before starting any activity. Boundaries create a sense of safety and structure for both you and the users.
- Clarify the Purpose of Support: At the beginning of the process, explain clearly the purpose and limits of the support you are offering so users understand the nature of the assistance they will receive.
- No Financial Compensation: Volunteers may not accept financial compensation or gifts from users. Small symbolic gestures (such as portions of food) can be accepted, but only if they do not create a sense of obligation.
2. Safety and Safeguarding
- Assess Safety at the End of Each Session: Before closing a session, always check the user’s emotional and physical state. Ensure they are stable and not left in a vulnerable situation (for example, on the street without support or visibly distressed).
- If you have any doubts, treat it as a safeguarding concern — mark it accordingly or inform us immediately.
- Report Safeguarding Concerns: If you identify any safeguarding issues (such as risk of harm, abuse, or neglect), report them immediately following the procedure in the Політика охорони. Prompt reporting is crucial for everyone’s wellbeing.
3. Documentation and Accountability
- Session Logging: Record every session you conduct using the designated form provided when you start your case. Accurate logging ensures transparency and upholds high standards of care.
