Our Safeguarding Protocol

Dernière mise à jour : December 3, 2025 at 08:24

This protocol outlines the steps Iguality follows when a safeguarding concern is raised. Its purpose is to ensure that every concern is managed promptly, consistently, and with the highest level of care, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all individuals involved.

1: Receipt of Concern & Activation of Safeguarding Leads
A safeguarding concern is reported through any of Iguality’s established channels. Upon receipt, the Safeguarding Leads are immediately notified and activated.

2: Assignment of Responsible Lead (Within 24 Hours) & Initial Outreach
One Safeguarding Lead must take primary responsibility for the concern within 24 hours of the report.

  • If no Lead has taken responsibility within this timeframe, the Safeguarding Support Leads are automatically notified to ensure timely action.
  • The assigned Lead then contacts the individuals involved to gather essential information, assess immediate risk, and put urgent safety measures in place if necessary.

3: Consultation (If Needed)
If the case requires additional expertise or presents complexity, the responsible Safeguarding Lead consults with other members of the MHPSS Coordination Team—or other relevant staff—to support decision-making and risk assessment. It may also be needed to reach out to the referral organisation of the individual(s) involved (if applicable).

4: Action Plan & Response
Based on the assessment, the concern is addressed through one or both of the following pathways:

  • Internal Response: Creating and implementing a safety plan, adjusting support structures, collaborating with therapists or social workers, and coordinating ongoing support.
  • External Response: Referring to emergency services, hospital care, or partner organisations when the risk exceeds Iguality’s scope or requires specialised intervention.

5: Follow-Up, Monitoring & Case Closure
The responsible Safeguarding Lead schedules and conducts follow-ups to monitor the situation, ensure safety measures remain effective, and confirm that all referrals or support actions are functioning. A concern is only closed once the situation is fully resolved, follow-ups are complete, and there is no ongoing risk to the individual or others.
