At Iguality, we understand that many of the people we support are going through complex and challenging situations. At the same time, your time and commitment as a volunteer therapist are deeply valuable — and we believe that care must go both ways.
While we always approach our patients with empathy and understanding, we also set clear expectations to ensure respectful and effective collaboration. Here's what you can expect from your patient:
Cancellations:
Patients must inform you at least 24 hours in advance if they need to cancel a session. This allows for mutual respect of time and preparation.
No-shows:
A missed session counts as a no-show if:
- The patient doesn't attend the session without any notice.
- The cancellation is made less than 24 hours before the session.
- The patient arrives more than 15 minutes late, and there's no time left to complete the session
After a second no-show, the case will be reviewed and may be closed — unless there is an exceptional circumstance, which will always be evaluated with care and compassion.
Punctuality:
Patients are expected to arrive on time. If they are more than 15 minutes late, you are not required to hold the session and may treat it as a no-show.
Consistent issues
If a patient repeatedly cancels at the last minute, arrives late to sessions, or shows signs of low motivation or commitment, please reach out to the Iguality team. These patterns can affect the quality of care and your experience as a therapist. We’ll help you assess the situation and decide together on the best next steps.
When in Doubt, Reach Out:
If you're unsure how to handle a situation involving cancellations, lateness, or no-shows, don’t hesitate to contact the Iguality team. We’re here to support you in responding in a way that’s fair, clear, and aligned with our values.
